Today, April 19, my hubby and I have been married for 16 years. 16 years since the day we said I do. That day was a lot like today, the weather was gorgeous and there was a chill in the air, and I was getting ready to marry my best friend. The passage of time and years of marriage change people. When I look back and reflect on our 16 years of marriage plus our 3 years of dating, I just think, we were practically babies. This morning I had songs on my heart from our dating days. “Leaving on a Jetplane,” to signify each time we parted ways over the years of long distance. “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” for the hours on end we would spend on the phone each night, not ever ready to hang up and say goodbye. “I Swear,” just because we were so young and in love. “Amazed,” our wedding song. I could go on and on. But instead I’m going to share my poem from day 26 of the Poem A Day Challenge, A Love Poem. This is for you Kenny. I love you with all my heart and soul, forever. Happy 16th Anniversary.
True Love
True love
is beautifully hard
As it is more than
just a word.
It is
Action and Sacrifice.
It is
putting another
before yourself
True Love
requires patience
and work
It is
more than
falling in love
It is
growing and changing
and persevering
It is
hard
But
it is
Beautiful
It is
worth it
every day
forever.
