Christmas Present

In this moment

With these people of mine

And this tree

And this time together

Just an ordinary time

But a moment when

We were fully present,

Fully engaged

Taking it all in

Breathing in the conversation,

The togetherness,

The tradition

Knowing it’s all fleeting

But holding onto this moment

What is here and now is here now

Tomorrow has enough troubles of its own

No need to borrow tomorrow’s worries

Or lament Christmas past

Only in this moment

This Christmas present,

Is a gift
