Here in our little beach side town, the nor’easter has passed and all that’s left are remnants of the rain and wind-puddles and leaves covering the ground. It is amazing that after a storm, the sun rises again and always looks more spectacular than ever, especially following darkness as we had the past two days.

I had to get out for a walk this morning so I got myself and my doggy ready and out we went. As we reached the beach, I was struck by the awesomeness of the view, the sun still rising in the sky, brilliantly shimmering over the ocean, making it sparkle as though covered by diamonds. I didn’t grow up in the church so I’m not too familiar with many hymns, but as I looked at the sun, this hymn began playing in my mind-

“Praise the Lord, His mercy is more. Stronger than darkness, new every morn. Our sins they are many, His mercy is more.”

Not only did the sun rise again after a storm, but I was reminded that God’s mercies are new every day. So dear friends, no matter how yesterday went, even if today isn’t starting out so great, I want you to know, that our sins they are many, His mercy is more. There is mercy, grace, and forgiveness in Jesus. I’m counting my blessings today. Won’t you join me?

This photo doesn’t capture the awesome I saw through my own eyes.
