Today I did something new that I am totally thankful for. I left those dirty dishes in the sink and I ignored the clothes in the dryer. Instead of doing house chores, I used my time to ”work.” I struggle calling my writing work because it doesn’t pay the bills, but today I chose to change my perspective and my attitude and to focus on the big picture-because if I don’t take any baby steps to get to my goals, I may as well throw it all away.
So today, I am thankful for work!
I am thankful for walks.
I am thankful for pray dates.
I am thankful for a surprise lunch that a friend brought over for me.
I am thankful for mild weather.
I am thankful for town sports.
I am thankful for a sunset run with my man.
I am thankful for an evening game of battleship with my middle kid.

I’m still working a PT job, because my writing doesn’t pay the bills either. But I’m still at baby steps too, even though they may be just a bit bigger than yours right now. Keep it up because you’ll find that the baby steps keep getting bigger. Each year you’ll be able to look back and see larger and larger strides.
While you’re on gratitude – yesterday we were driving home. We pulled behind a brand new car with a Mustang logo on the back. Wow! Neither of us had seen a brand new mustang. It looked very different. We were most impressed, and more than a little bit jealous. Until it turned the corner as we passed and we saw the whole car. I turned and said, “That’s UGLY!” Neither of us liked it. So my next comment was, “Well, that’s my gratitude for the day – that we don’t own one of the new Mustangs!” It’s all in our perspective, isn’t it?
