Today felt like we started over from scratch. I’m so thankful for the last two weeks-for our transition-and our choices. I’m excited about our week and the new adventures and freedom that are in store. Today we did only a couple of subjects on our online platform and then explored a subject that both of my kids are weak in and will be concentrating on that area for our spelling words. We did some hands on, some writing, and found a song to listen to about this topic. We finished off our day reading a pop up book about the solar system(our current theme) and then starting a space themed fictional book(Bounders)-my kids really thrive on read alouds. Tonight we watched a documentary on Discovery about Neil Armstrong. I’m learning that learning doesn’t end when our school day does. Learning is continuous. Learning at home doesn’t have to be about sitting at a table doing hours of work. Learning at home happens while we do school, while we drive around, while we explore the outdoors, while we watch a documentary, while we do chores, while we make meals, while we eat meals. There’s a verse in the Bible that says; Start children off on the way they should go, and when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6
I feel honored and privileged to be homeschooling my kids-even if it’s only for this school year.
