Last night I went on a boat ride with my family and friends to watch a fireworks display. It was a lovely evening surrounded by people that I love filled with good conversation and laughter. At 9pm the fireworks began and I have to say it was one of the best. As we sat and watched the display, patriotic music playing through the speaker, I got lost in the explosion of color that was bursting before my eyes. I thought to myself, this is beautiful. Then I remembered the sermon from church earlier in the day. Our youth director preached yesterday from Colossians 2:8-15 and one of the things he said popped into my mind at that moment, that even the most beautiful things we see here in this life on earth will not compare with one day meeting Jesus and seeing him face to face. Sometimes we see beautiful things and forget to give credit to the creator for making them. Sometimes we go through really hard circumstances, and we may blame God or not lean into Him as we ought to. He provides good and beautiful things, and He also is our protector and comforter, walking with us through trials. So, as I watched the rest of those colors bursting before me, I gave thanks for this moment in time. Our church closed with Christus Victor yesterday, I could have sat there all day listening to and singing this song in worship to our Lord and Savior. It was a powerful and beautiful moment of worship and a great way to conclude the sermon. I hope you can take a listen. Happy 250 America.
