When I think of being a kid at heart I think of several things…
1-A childlike faith. A childlike faith in God is like knowing and believing and that’s it. It’s not complicated. It’s not contractual. It’s just like when you’re a kid and you have your best friend, no questions asked, they are your best friend because they are.
2-Finding joy in the simple things in life. Life has never been about the fancy and extravagant but as we get older those are the things we tend to focus on. Being a kid at heart means enjoying those simple things that made you giddy as a kid: catching lightning bugs, swinging as high as you can on the swings, staying up late to read a great book, talking to a friend for hours, getting lost in a board game without worrying about what you should be doing.
3- Skipping the filet and being completely satisfied with chicken tenders and fries, indulging in the ice cream sundae and watching a guilt free movie from your childhood(Lion King, Care Bears, too many good ones to name).
I find so much joy and fun when I make the time to remember the kid inside me and get to be a kid at heart, if only for a few moments.
