Winter Solstice

The shortest day of the year

Cold air biting my cheeks

Wind gusts make me shiver

But for a brief time

The sun was shining

Now as I settle in to this dark season

I can rest in the darkness

As a peace and calm

Blanket the earth

Reminding me that it is ok to rest
