Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6:25-27

Control-A Poem

I surrender

My white flag is up

You are God

I am not

You tell the winds when to blow

The waves when to crash

And then you calm it all

With a command

Be Still

You clothe the earth with beauty

Make the stars twinkle in the sky

Provide for all of creation

Because you are good

Why do I worry?

Why do I fear?

You hold the earth and everything in it

In the palm of your hand

Even when I plan

Even when I strive

Even when I try to work everything

out, down to perfection

And control every little detail

You are God

I am not

Here I stand

Humbled before you

At the foot of the cross

I surrender

I give you control

Even in my planning

Your way is better

There is nothing I can do

That is better than what you’ve already done

Even in the darkness

You are the light

In the depths

You give me height

In the valley, you are my strength

And on the mountaintops, you are my breath

I don’t want to live outside of your will

When all I need is to stop and be still

Trust in the Lord with all of my heart

From Him I never want to be apart

I surrender control

My white flag is up

You are God

I am not
