Last week we took a family vacation. The day after school got out we loaded up the car and set off on a road trip to the Smoky Mountains for a few days with my family. Cousins laughed, Scrabble was played, movies were watched, the hot tub was used daily, rocking chairs were rocked on back porches, meals were eaten, fun was had. One thing that I was intentional about on this vacation was unplugging. My phone remained on do not disturb and social media was not peeked at even once while I was away. This was especially hard for me when my latest post on herviewfromhome.com went live during our vacation. I wanted to share it on my facebook and instagram but I knew if I did I would be too tempted to check on my posts. What difference would a few days make when these crazy kids hadn’t been together in about two years? Zero. All the important things in life were right there in front of me and on this journey to simplicity, this screen break was exactly what I needed to focus on family and simple things.

Here’s my latest on herviewfromhome.com!
